So Emir, when you study in under developed country under, an oppressive regime that is afraid of everything, you end up believing in absolutes such as that "triangle" you speak of. But here is the thing; we live in a globalized world, with different levels of education and cultural experiences and interactions.
If we burn the embassy or property of every individual that offends us, we will spend time extinguishing fires and rebuilding rather than building and prospering.
For one to live in this world, one needs to compromise but even more important than that one needs to research and learn rather than assume.
Here is something you can use to educate yourself: http://egyptiansandmonkey.blogspot.com/2006/02/boycott-egypt.html
In addition, Ghandi, who has credibility even though he is no Muslim, said if eye for an eye is the motto of existence then we would all get blind!
However, if you do not agree with Ghandi or me please note there is more than 6 BILLION people living on the planet, why do not you go on jihad and try to educate them.
My dear friend, first of all, this has nothing to do with developped or under developped countries, because it's not biology : its philosophy ! and it goes back to thousands of years ago. And it was given by a greek philosoph! So : wrong assumption !
Second of all, you accuse people because they generalize, while u did the same : supporting what happened is on basically supporting the boycott and the manifestations, not the "stupidity" of burning flags and bombs alerts (that became basic part of the news that you listen to, every single day, and no body gives a shit about it anymore)
So, you think, that the best way is to compromise ? It could be true, but my dear, you LOOSE YOUR IDENTTY and your RESPECT if People attack your propreties and your bellieves, and you just dont do anything because you want to learn from them ? what will you learn and how useful will be your knowledge if you dont have respect in the international society ?????
For you it's either compromise or burn embassies ???
And please, talking about Ghandi, are you serious saying "who has credibility eventhough he is no Muslim" ??? Since when Muslims are the only people that have credibility ??? And finally, there's no need to educate 6 BILLIONS of people, first of all because im not the one who can do that, and secondly, because its not a good exemple : they will never ever agree on sthg !
JIHAD? :)))) The way you used this word reminds me of FOX NEWS reports and analysis :))))
Emir. i guess you cant see the sarcasm in many of my comments.
anyhow, if muslims and arabs focus on improving their image and positive or even shunning the terrorists and jihadists from the muslim religion then muslims dont have to worry about the rest of the world making fun of our culture or believes.
and you got to realize its not what I think but its more what the muslims have shown the wolrd what they stand for.
Let me now give you exemples to show you that it's really YOUR OPINION and not the reality. Because an objectif point of view will consider what happened in Australia, New Zealand, France, Italy, and The US (that's what i could remember for now, and there are much more) when People from those countries Attacked and destroyed MOSQUES, and Islamic centers, just because some terrorists did some bomb attacks like in Madrid and London. So, Assem, did they create a website, or displayed a speech or anything to say that they're sorry ? and that does not express the main public opinion ? NO, they did not ! AD WE DIDNT EVEN ASK FOR THAT, because we know, and as you said, the world is not perfect, so people hae thousand of ways to express their anger ! And let me tell you what's even worst : i've seen in the news that in LEBANON for exemple, the majority of houses and cars distroyed belongs to lebaneese people and not to Western countires representatives, so, those "people" just wanna destroy anything nomatter to whom it belongs, and that shows the level of their education and cultural respect ! And you can learn from the jewish, how to be AGRRESSIVE if needed, to defend your HONOR, if there's no other way to do it! BUT, AS I SAID : THAT'S PART OF THE GAME. And this game is so easy, cause it just needs an official APOLOGY ; verbal or written, BUT THEY DONT WANNA DO IT !!!!!!!
I'm sorry for you Assem if you consider differences between back grounds it means for me that you are blind by the west. The under developed country you seem to dislike grew up high educated people how are serving the west and the whole World. I think you have an identity problem that's why you apologize for something you didn't do. And by the way, the under developed countries suffer from people like you how forgot all the values they learn from their roots. Actually you exactly like the ones how burned and destroyed but you are extremist from the other side. I think you confuse between personal goals, or issues and the nation's issues. And about Gandhi; they like him because he make it easy for the British nothing else. At the end they killed him. Simple minded people look to the action and cannot see beyond.

Ahmed, I think you don't have the right to judge Assem. So now you decided he wasn't blinded by the west, he is an extremist and has and identity crisis !??? where did you see all that !? Instead of debating ideas and points of view you did a values judgment that are based on no facts (jugement de valeurs).
And about the identity crisis, assuming you were right; don't you think you have to go through such a crisis to finally find your own identity, or do you prefer to learn that in school !!!???
Emir, I liked the caricature on your blog, and I think you make a point in what you say. Muslims have to express their indignation for violating their beliefs, but definitely not the way we saw them doing it on our TV screens.
Remember the movie "the passion of the Christ" The Jewish community called it an antisemit movie, and they made themselves heard. Was there any violence anywhere ? none.
The caricatures were carried by dozens of newspapers all around the world in the name of free speech, why !? because they were shocked by what happened and felt their freedom threatened. Is this the outcome the people who burnt the flags and the embassies wanted to have!? a vicious circle and an escalation from both sides.
It is time we learn how to express ourselves, our ideas and values in a civilized way (like Assem said) and make ourselves respected for that.
Anis Ps: and btw Jyllands-Posten apologized more than a month ago and so did the norwegian magazine
Anis!!! The way Assem reacted pissed me off. It's clear that we are all coming from an under developed countries. And the point is that the conversation with Assem was so interesting at the beginning… I thought that he’s kind of open minded people but he confirmed that he has limited perspectives. To be brief I didn’t like the way he talked to Emir; he could use better means of expressions as he did at the beginning. And by the way, all of us are against violence and burning flags. I agree with Emir concerning Boycott; actually it is one side of the freedom of expression ;-) At the end you like it or not the west has some deep detestation feeling toward the Islam. The only difference between us is that the western’s people and western’s governments can get along easily but not in our side. Concerning identity, it’s the biggest wound we do have in our society specially North Africa. Recently I met a guy from the Middle East and he was wondering: Are the Tunisian Arab, European or African? Of course I couldn’t help him! I got a good lesson in the States concerning Identity. You can ask Emir, we learned how to say laud YES WE ARE ARAB AND WE ARE MUSLIM. Anyway, it’s all about point of views and the way to discuss. The subject is sensitive and we should all pay attention the way we discus it. Hasilou the cartoons are everywhere now just to confirm that the Freedom of speech is more important then Muslims feelings and it’s ok for me because some soft punches strengthen instead of hurting :-)
Anis I think you changed these last few years. I don’t remember talking to you personally, but I’ve different image of you. Well we met with some common friends fi tunes: Shilling and citronnier… Anyway good luck
